BIM uses Revit as the most sophisticated database tool because:
Elements in Revit contain Associated Data such as material, reinforcement info, concrete grade etc. Elements have 3 Dimensional properties, and are not just a set of 2D geometry elements. A column is an actual column, not a set of 4 lines.
